Truck access and storage:
It is very important the truck has easy access to the barn and can enter and exit without hitting gates or trees. You must have a dry clean space to store the hay. If hand stacking off of a truck we recommend a barn approximately 50' x 20' x 15'. A concrete floor is always preferred. It takes 4 to 6 people to off load a truck even with a tractor.

Steffens Systems:
Off-load hands free way with a Steffens System! We recommend the 5510 model for three string bales and there are more options for big bales. Hay USA is a Steffens Systems dealer. One person can off load a truck in one hour with this equipment. It is the perfect partner with a Toyota forklift. Shoppas Materials and Handling in Fort Worth, Texas has new and used fork lifts and has experience setting up the Steffens Systems for us.

Truck sizes:

  • 48' flat bed holds 335 to 350 bales and can carry heavy bales.
  • 48' drop deck holds up to 378 to 406 and can carry lighter bales and more of them.
  • 53' drop deck holds 406 to 420 very light bales!
